  Hold up the grand old Bible to the people! Deny it or neglect it never! Unfailing it has stood the test of ages, And it shall stand unchanged forever!   Lord, Thy Word abideth, And our footsteps guideth; Who its truth believeth Light and joy receiveth. When our foes are near us, Then Thy Word doth cheer us, Word of consolation, Message of salvation. When the storms are o’er us, And dark clouds before us, Then its light directeth, And our way protecteth. Who can tell the pleasure, Who recount the treasure, By Thy Word imparted To the simple hearted? Word of mercy, giving Succor to the living; Word of life, supplying Comfort to the dying!   There’s a dear and precious Book, Though it’s worn and faded now, Which recalls those happy days of long ago, When I stood at mother’s knee, With her hand upon my brow, And I heard her voice in gentle tones and low.   ’Mid the storms of doubt and unbelief, we fear, Stands a Book eternal that the saints hold dear; Thro’ the restless ages it remains the same— ’Tis the Book of God, and the Bible is its name!   The starry firmament on high, And all the glories of the sky, Yet shine not to Thy praise, O Lord, So brightly as Thy written Word. The hopes that holy Word supplies, Its truths divine and precepts wise, In each a heavenly beam I see, And every beam conducts to Thee. Almighty Lord, the sun shall fail, The moon forget her nightly tale, And deepest silence hush on high, The radiant chorus of the sky.   I saw one weary, sad, and torn, With eager steps press on the way, Who long the hallowed cross had borne, Still looking for the promised day; While many a line of grief and care, Upon his brow, was furrowed there; I asked what buoyed his spirits up, “O this!” said he—“the blessèd hope.” And one I saw, with sword and shield, Who boldly braved the world’s cold frown, And fought, unyielding, on the field, To win an everlasting crown. Though worn with toil, oppressed by foes, No murmur from his heart arose; I asked what buoyed his spirits up, “O this!” said he—“the blessèd hope.” And there was one who left behind The cherished friends of early years, And honor, pleasure, wealth resigned, To tread the path bedewed with tears. Through trials deep and conflicts sore, Yet still a smile of joy he wore; I asked what buoyed his spirits up, “O this!” said he—“the blessèd hope.” While pilgrims here we journey on In this dark vale of sin and gloom, Through tribulation, hate, and scorn, Or through the portals of the tomb, Till our returning King shall come To take His exile captives home, O! what can buoy the spirits up? ’Tis this alone—the blessèd hope.

• [Tit 2:13] We Have This Hope

  We have this hope that burns within our hearts, Hope in the coming of the Lord. We have this faith that Christ alone imparts, Faith in the promise of His Word. We believe the time is here, When the nations far and near Shall awake, and shout and sing Hallelujah! Christ is King! We have this hope that burns within our hearts, Hope in the coming of the Lord. We are united in Jesus Christ our Lord. We are united in His love. Love for the waiting people of the world, People who need our Savior’s love. Soon the heav’ns will open wide, Christ will come to claim His bride, All the universe will sing Hallelujah! Christ is King! We have this hope, this faith, and God’s great love, We are united in Christ.
